Homeschooling Jobs

Homeschooling is growing rapidly in many countries. This growth has created some real job opportunities for qualified teachers and tutors. Even though, in most cases, the parents will be responsible for the homeschooling, there will be areas in which they will need assistance.

For retired teachers or those just tired of the stress and never-ending workload in public schools, homeschooling has created some real opportunities. Salaries might not be competitive with a fulltime salary, but there are many other benefits.

Part time tutor

It is very unlikely that any parent will be able to teach the variety of subjects their children are interested in or what they might need for tertiary education. Even a parent that is a qualified teacher will have his or her own speciality field. Once high school age is reached, the subjects become more complicated and specific skills will be needed. Assisting a child with math and science is difficult if you are not qualified in that area. Other specialized fields like languages, art subjects and music won’t be something most parents will feel comfortable, teaching. In a community where there are many homeschools, this can become a full time job.

Full time tutor

Some families want to homeschool but the parents don’t necessarily want to do the teaching. These parents would want to have control over the content and the way the teaching is done. Some parents who travel frequently, for business or otherwise, also employ full time tutors. This allows the family to travel together without the children loosing out on school time. Some families might only need this for a specific period of time or it can be for the child’s entire school career.

Online Homeschooling

There are a number of online sites where parents purchase a complete online program for a specific school year. These programs usually have online tutors available to assist children. They also hire experts to do curriculum planning or other related work. These jobs might require that you work from their offices but there are also those that will be an online job where you can work from your own home.

As homeschooling grows these opportunities will become more and more and can be the ideal job for someone looking for a new challenge.
